GRAY NICOLLS
H.J. Gray and Sons was founded in Cambridge by world rackets champion H.J. Gray in 1855 and soon built a reputation supplying rackets to University players such as Ranjitsinjhi and the future King Edward VII. The company is owned and controlled by the Gray family to this day. L.J. Nicolls started making bats in 1876 in his workshop in Robertsbridge, East Sussex; where the company is still based today; and supplied WG Grace with his record-breaking bat with which he scored his 100th century and made 1000 runs in May 1894.
Gray-Nicolls was formed in the 1940's by the merger of two well known cricket bat manufacturers H.J.Gray and Sons, and L.J. Nicolls. At this time the company also acquired the famous brands of Shaw and Shrewsbury and Wainwrights. England captain Wally Hammond and Australian star Keith Miller used Gray-Nicolls.
The brand went from strength to strength in the 1950's and 60's and at one stage the captains of all 5 test playing countries (Ted Dexter, Richie Benaud, Frank Worrell, John Reid, Trevor Goddard) all used Gray-Nicolls. Major innovations included the revolutionary "Steel Spring" and the first shoulderless "Superlite" bat.
In the 1970's Gray-Nicolls were the first to introduce coloured labels. Top Cricketers using the trend-setting Gray-Nicolls red flash included the Chappell brothers, Clive Lloyd, Tony Greig and Barry Richards. In 1974 the company broke new ground with the introduction of the revolutionary scoop bat. A new Gray-Nicolls factory was opened in Melbourne to supply the growing demand from the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Expansion in the 1980's and 1990's meant Gray-Nicolls had to move to larger premises in Robertsbridge. New innovations included the Dynadrive, Sabre and Millennium bats. Famous names such as David Gower, Robin Smith, David Boon, Javed Miandad, Sunil Gavaskar and Jeff Dujon used Gray-Nicolls and Brian Lara scored the highest ever first class (501) innings with the Scoop 2000.
The new Millennium saw the introduction our unique Carbon & Titanium handles. Successive England Captain's Michael Atherton & Nasser Hussain proudly used Gray-Nicolls throughout their careers. More runs were scored with Gray-Nicolls bats than any other brand in the 2003 World Cup. Andrew Strauss, Matt Hayden, Mohammed Yousaf, Ram Sarwan and Daniel Vettori are all set to represent Gray-Nicolls into the future.

MONGOOSE CRICKET
Watch this youtube video & see what this bat could do for your game !!!!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooPjte-KdA0&feature=player_embedded
Former Australian batsman Stuart Law has become the first player to use the new Mongoose blade in a cricket competition.
This latest evolution in cricket bat design has sparked fears that younger players will be turned off bowling.
The Mongoose bat, with a handle as long as the blade, is not even the craziest design the Marylebone Cricket Club - the games lawmakers - have been presented this past year as Twenty20 spawns a new wave of invention, reports an Australian daily.
The MCC has already rejected dozens of submissions, including one bat with holes drilled into the blade for aerodynamic purposes, described by observers as a "Swiss cheese bat". But they passed this one, used for the first time by former Australian batsman Stuart Law during a county Twenty20 match .
The MCC found that it met all requirements under law six of regulations regarding the make-up of a bat, and they are not concerned about the possible ramifications for bowlers.
The Mongoose is tailor-made for the short format. Subtlety is not its strong suit. With a five-centimeter thick base that boasts a sweet spot twice the size of that on a traditional bat, even the pace bowlers saving grace - a yorker - can be dispatched to the ropes.
"The Mongoose has the potential to revolutionise cricket," said Law, who is contracted by the bats manufacturers to spruik its powers.
"Without changing your technique, the bat allows you to hit the ball harder and further. Its power is phenomenal. Its a weapon of mass destruction," Law added.
A company spokesman said there was "every chance" the bat, with a starting price of 159 pounds, could make an appearance at the Twenty20 World Cup as negotiations were under way with other international players.
The ICC has no problems with that prospect because it complies with MCC law, although, looking at its design, some wonder how that could be.
"When Twenty20 came in, people said it would be the death of the spin bowler, and, over time, it has proved that spin bowlers are the most successful. I dont think we need to be worried about fast-tracking laws to help bowlers. Well see how it [influences games] and then obviously consider if laws need to be tailored," MCC spokesman Neil Priscott said.

NEWBERY
We trace our bat-making heritage back to the early 1900's when the Newbery family first made cricket bats in Robertsbridge. John Newbery's father, Len was a bat-maker and partner of Nicolls Bats (later to become Gray Nicolls) who had made bats since the time of W G Grace. Len's skills were handed down to his only son John, who founded John Newbery Ltd in 1981.
John's legendary reputation as a master bat-maker quickly spread throughout the world , as did his innovative designs. This all took place against a background of failing health, which led to his early death in 1989.
His senior craftsman Tim Keeley is today the Managing Director of Newbery, using the same skills to produce cricket bats that John passed on during their years together.
The philosophy remains the same today..... that quality, performance and style comes first

NIKE
When Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman made this observation many years ago, he was defining how he viewed the endless possibilities for human potential in sports. He set the tone and direction for a young company called Nike, and today those same words inspire a new generation of Nike employees.
Our goal is to carry on his legacy of innovative thinking, whether to develop products that help athletes of every level of ability reach their potential, or to create business opportunities that set Nike apart from the competition and provide value for our shareholders.
It started with a handshake between two visionary Oregonians - Bowerman and his University of Oregon runner Phil Knight. They and the people they hired evolved and grew the company that became Nike from a US-based footwear distributor to a global marketer of athletic footwear, apparel and equipment that is unrivaled in the world.
Along the way, Nike has established a strong Brand Portfolio with several wholly-owned subsidiaries including Cole Haan, Converse Inc., Hurley International LLC, NIKE Golf, and Umbro Ltd.
Our world headquarters is located near Beaverton, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. So while the Pacific Northwest is the birthplace to Nike, today we operate in more than 160 countries around the globe. Through our suppliers, shippers, retailers and other service providers, we directly or indirectly employ nearly one million people.
That includes more than 30,000 Nike employees across six continents, each of whom make their own contribution to fulfill our mission statement: to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete* in the world.
